Haulmark All Star Sprint Results – Fremont Speedway - Sat. 5/08/04

By Scott Hall

FREMONT, OH – It was total dominance by Dale Blaney Saturday night at
Fremont Speedway in the Haulmark All Star sprint car 40 lap feature. He led
wire to wire in the Andrews Motorsports Maxim, earning $5,000 for his first
victory of the season. Lee Jacobs, in the Burmeister No. 16 transferred from
the B Main to the A main, started 10th and came home a strong second with
Indiana’s Bill Rose third.

“My car was really good all night long. George Fisher and Tom Andrews got
that thing awful good in the feature, it was easy to drive. Anyone could
have driven this car to victory tonight,” Blaney related from victory lane.

John Ivy and Blaney led the field to the green flag, with Blaney taking
the initial lead. Ivy, in second, executed a 360 degree spin with a lap in
the books, dropping him from second to last when the yellow came out. Blaney
pulled away from Rose when the green reappeared and Mike Linder, who started
seventh was now third, moving up nicely in the bottom groove. When he
entered lapped traffic on lap nine, Blaney had a full straightaway lead over
Rose. Now Phil Gressman and Byron Reed were battling for third, just ahead
of All Star points leader Chad Kemenah.

Reed took over third, and then Kemenah also got past Gressman. Kemenah
was on the move also, and by lap 19 was battling with Reed.

Kemenah went low under Reed to take third at the halfway point of the
race, but he slipped off the edge of the track a lap later, just before a
caution flew for a John Ivy and Chad Blonde spin. This dropped Kemenah to
seventh in the field.

Blaney showed his dominance once again following the restart, and pulled
out to another half lap lead. Rose held a consistent second with Jacobs
taking third from Reed on lap 26. Jacobs, excellent in the low groove, began
catching Rose. Jacobs took over second for good on lap 32. Ivy was also on
the move from the back of the pack again, and was up to fifth with six laps
to go.

As the laps wound down, Blaney won easily, with Jacobs second, Rose third
and Ivy fourth. He passed the most cars on the night, coming from the back
of the pack twice in the Carousel Racing No. 20. Mark Keegan started 12th
and came in fifth, ahead of 14th starter Danny Smith. Linder was next,
followed by David Harrison, Kemenah and Craig Mintz, up from 21st starting
spot.

“It was just a great night for us, this is pretty amazing,” Jacobs
recalled. “We’ve been struggling and we finally got this car operating
tonight.”

“We had a good night, and had fun tonight,” Rose said. “We changed some
stuff around and it worked.”

The Crown Battery heat fell to Rob Chaney, the B&B Products heat went to
Andrew Palker, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by Dustin Daggett
and the TP Wings heat fell to Chad Blonde. Shane Helms won the Outerwears
Pre-filters C Main and Mike Linder was the University of Northwestern Ohio B
Main winner. Phil Gressman captured the Haulmark Dash and Kemenah was the
Huggins Cams Fast Time qualifier. Jamie Miller captured the 25 lap 305
sprint A Main over Paul Weaver, Scott Miller, Brian Smith and Roger Shammo.

All Stars Add Non-Qualifiers races to Lernerville Makeup Friday May 7

By Scott Hall

CAMARGO, IL – In order to assure a full starting field of sprint cars,
the Haulmark All Star Circuit of Champions and Lernerville Speedway have
added a non-qualifier’s race to the May 7 All Star make-up program.

The Speedway’s Haulmark All Star Dave & Earl Bauman Memorial Sprint Car
Series feature from Labor Day weekend 2003 will be made up as a part of
Lernerville’s regular racing program on Friday night May 7. Many drivers
already are locked into the feature from the 2003 preliminary events. Since
several pre-qualified drivers do not have rides this season, several feature
starting spots are open. These spots will be filled by a non-qualifier’s
race (or more than one race if the number of cars on hand warrants), with
the top finishers advancing to the All Star feature. These non-qualifiers
events are open to all sprint car competitors, and will be lined up
according to a pill draw.

All Star members participating in the Lernerville program will be awarded
2004 show-up points for the evening’s activities.

Drivers already locked into the feature in starting order include: 1. Rod
George, George 4; 2. Dale Blaney, Andrews 72b; 3. Ed Lynch, Jr., Lynch 2L;
4. Chad Kemenah, Harble 15k; 5. Chad Hill, Shearer 44; 6. Jamie Smith, Smith
5G; 7. Jeremy Campbell, Campbell 10c; 8. Byron Reed, B&S 5; 9. Bill Rose,
Rose 6; 10. Stevie Smith, Smith 19; 11. Eric Smith, Smith 7z; 12. Scott
Bonnell, Bonnell 3; 13. Ralph Engel, Kubick 00; 14. Bob Bennett, Mickle 3;
15. Dan Shetler, Shetler 7K; 16. Kevin Schaeffer, Schaeffer 9; 17. Ryan
Coniam, Grove 70; 18. Phil Gressman, Robenalt 98. Barry Ruble and Arnie Kent
are also in the starting lineup as promoter’s options.

Drivers participating last year who qualified for the main but are not
expected to be on hand May 7 are Shane Stewart, Jeff Shepard, Erin Crocker,
Jason Johnson, Kenny Jacobs and Dean Jacobs.
Following the Lernerville feature event, the All Stars move to the
Fremont, OH Speedway Saturday night May 8 for a full All Star racing
program.

By Scott Hall

CAMARGO, IL – The Track That Action Built, Fremont Speedway in Fremont,
Ohio, hosts the All Star Circuit of Champions sprint cars for the first of
four 2004 appearances Saturday night May 8.

“You never know who is going to win an All Star race” holds true,
especially at Fremont. You must go back a decade to 1993 to find a repeat
All Star race winner during one season at Fremont, when Frankie Kerr won two
of the four events there. In 1994, Kerr was the lone race winner with two
different winners in 1995, three different winners in 1997 and 2000, five
different winners in 2001 and 2002 and last season saw four different
winners in four All Star races held. A total of 75 series’ events have been
held there since 1980.

The May 8 event is Fort Ball Pizza night with the 305 sprint cars also on
the card.

Fremont Speedway can be contacted at 419-333-0478 or 419-862-2206.

Haulmark All Star Sprint Results – Eldora Speedway - Sat. 4/24/04

By Scott Hall

ROSSBURG, OH – A hurricane blew through Eldora Speedway Saturday
night. Randy “Hurricane” Hannigan won the Haulmark All Star sprint car 30
lap feature, recording his first career All Star win. Hannigan started
sixth, took second with 12 laps in and passed leader Danny Smith for the win
on lap 19. His THR Racing Hurricane Chassis utilized Gaerte power. Hannagan
thanked his brother Terry from victory lane, and indicated that without his
support this win would not have been possible.

The first attempt to start the main saw 18th starting rookie Brock Mayes
take a flip in turn one trying to avoid Jeremy Campbell, who brushed the
turn one concrete. Barry Ruble was also involved. Jimmy Stinson and rookie
Jon Agan brought the field down for the second start, with Stinson jumping
into the lead in the Stinson Concrete Eagle. Agan held second until lap
seven when fourth starting Smith went by with a turn one slide job. Once in
the lead Smith began stretching his advantage over Stinson, Hannagan and Jac
Haudenschild, who was in a fierce battle with Chad Kemenah. By lap 11
Hannigan was challenging Stinson for second, and he took that spot a lap
later.

Following a lap 12 caution period, Smith pushed out to a big lead over
Hannagan, and fourth place Haudenschild smacked the turn two wall sending
him deep back into the pack. By the halfway mark, Smith was approaching
lapped traffic again with Hannagan second, Stinson third and Kemenah fourth.

When Smith caught the tail of the field, he was boxed in by the lapped car
of Kent Wolters, allowing Hannagan to blast by and lead lap 19. Hannagan
pulled away from Smith, but with only a handful of laps remaining, Smith
began reeling in the leader again. Smith was poised to pass Hannagan to
re-take the lead on lap26, but the lapped car of Ryan Coniam prevented Smith
from making his move. Once Smith fell back, the victory was all Hannagan's,
as he won by two car lengths. Points leader Kemenah was third behind Smith,
with Stinson fourth and 17th starting Jeremy Campbell fifth, earning the
Fisher Performance Hard Charger award.

Next across were Rob Chaney, Bill Rose, Agan, Wilson and Coniam.
The Crown Battery heat fell to Stinson, the B&B Products heat went to Rob
Chaney and the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by Mayes. Kemenah
captured the Haulmark Dash and Randy Hannagan was the Huggins Cams Fast Time
qualifier.

Correction on Jac Haudenschild from Eldora Story on 4/24

ROSSBURG, OH – Saturday night at Eldora Speedway in the All Star sprint feature, Jac Haudenschild did not hit the wall as stated in my race results story. Haudenschild was going for third after the caution to close back in on Randy Hannigan who was in his sights before the yellow. Jac had passed Chad Kemenah early in the race coming out of turn two on the high side and never looked back. Jac then broke a bolt in the cam shaft which caused him to lose his power steering as he was riding high full throttle in turn two. Then he shut the car down and coasted to his pit area and never fell back in the pack or hit the wall.

Haulmark All Star Sprint Results – Attica Raceway Park - Fri. 4/16/04

By Scott Hall

ATTICA, OH – Chad Kemenah used lapped traffic to reel in Mark Keegan
Friday night at Attica Raceway Park in the Haulmark All Star sprint car
Coors Light Spring Nationals 30 lap feature. After Keegan led the first 28
circuits in his own No. X, Kemenah dove low under the lapped car of Jeremy
Campbell with Keegan moving to the high groove, and that move was Kemenah’s
winning one. It was Kemenah’s second consecutive win for the 2004 season in
the Jim Harble No. 15K Eagle Chassis wrenched by his brother Brian.
“It was a really good race, and I just ended up winning,” Kemenah
understated from victory lane.

Keegan and Campbell brought the field down to the green flag with Keegan
grabbing the initial lead over Paul May, who started fourth. Following a lap
two restart for a Lee Jacobs and Tim Hunter spin, Keegan easily motored away
from May with Campbell third and Kemenah fourth. Kemenah began applying
pressure to Campbell and after three laps of dicing back and fourth, Kemenah
secured third. Meanwhile, Danny Smith and Randy Hannigan were battling for
sixth. Keegan recovered from a slide off the top lip of the racetrack on lap
eight in time to keep his lead, which began shrinking to May and a fast
moving Kemenah.

A lap nine caution was a lucky break for Keegan, allowing him to get free
of lapped traffic. For the restart Keegan led May, Kemenah and Byron Reed.
As Keegan pulled away from the rest of the pack, Reed began pressuring
Kemenah for third. Reed dove low to try and get under Kemenah, but the
defending All Star champion repelled his advances. Two laps later Kemenah
passed May for second, and Reed followed him past the Terre Haute, Indiana
driver.

By lap 13 the running order was Keegan, Kemenah, Reed, May, Greg Wilson,
Campbell, Danny Smith, David Harrison, Bill Rose and Dale Blaney, who
started 13th. As Keegan moved out to a half straightaway lead, Rose was
battling with Harrison for eighth, but Blaney blew past both of them as his
machine was one of the fastest on the track.

With a John Ivy lap 17 flip bringing out a red flag, the running order
was Keegan, Kemenah, Reed, Wilson, May, Smith and Blaney when the green
reappeared again. Keegan, in the high groove, pushed his lead to another
half straightaway advantage with a great restart, and Blaney began picking
off cars, moving to sixth by lap 20.

Todd Kane, who started 21st, now was in the top ten as Keegan approached
lapped traffic. With five circuits remaining, Kemenah was closing quickly on
Keegan’s machine. With three laps to go, Kemenah drove high into Keegan’s
groove as the leader dove low to get by lapped traffic. As the lapped
machine of Campbell loomed ahead, Kemenah remained in the high groove with
Keegan committed to the bottom, and Kemenah’s momentum in the upper groove
propelled him into victory lane.

Keegan held on for a close second over Reed, with Wilson fourth and
Blaney fifth. Smith, after starting ninth, was sixth, ahead of Jac
Haudenschild, who charged hard in the latter stages of the race after
starting 22nd. Kane ended eighth with 19th starting Kyle Sauder ninth and
Hannigan tenth.

The Crown Battery heat fell to Tim Hunter, the B&B Products heat went to
John Ivy, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by Jody Keegan and the TP
Wings heat fell to Mike Linder. The University of Northwestern Ohio B Main
fell to Lee Jacobs and Kemenah was the Huggins Cams Fast Time qualifier.

Haulmark All Star Sprint Results – St. Francois Co. Raceway -
Sat. 4/3/04 By Scott Hall

By Scott Hall

FARMINGTON, MO – Defending All Star champion Chad Kemenah led 40
caution-filled laps wire-to-wire to defeat Dale Blaney Saturday night at St.
Francois Co. Raceway and win the Haulmark All Star sprint car feature. The
win by Kemenah evened the score with the local drivers at SFCR as local hot
shoe Tim Montgomery won here last year. Kemenah’s Jim Harble-owned Eagle
Chassis is powered by a Kistler engine and sponsorship help comes from John
Bores, Underground Utilities and Kear’s Speed Shop.

“We wanted to redeem ourselves after last year,” Kemenah related from
victory lane. “The race track is a real different shape here and it caught
us all off kilter last year. We just wanted to get into the lead tonight and
hoped the track would take rubber and it did and it just worked out for us.”

Kemenah and Jeremy Campbell brought the field down to the green flag,
with Campbell taking the initial lead, but a Rod Crabtree spin nixed the
start. For the second start, Kemenah led but quick timer Kelly Kinser spun
and was hit by Tim Montgomery and Brock Mayes, sending Kinser and Mayes to
the tail for the restart. The third time was the charm for Kemenah as he led
over Campbell, but another caution flew with one lap in the books for a Joey
Montgomery spin. Kemenah remained on top when the green appeared again as
fifth starter Dale Blaney was on the move, despite a smoking engine. Blaney
passed Terry McCarl for third then breezed by Campbell for second once the
leaders got into lapped traffic. As the top three ran nose to tail, McCarl
held fourth with Ricky Logan and Paul May battling for fifth. Kemenah
expertly worked lapped traffic, keeping Blaney, whose car finally stopped
smoking, at bay.

By lap 27 Logan began pressuring McCarl as May waited for an opening to
pass the duo. Campbell made a mistake a couple of laps later, getting
sideways in turn two and dipping into the infield, coming back out on the
track in seventh instead of third. Then Campbell and May made contact while
battling for sixth on lap 34, bringing out another caution. Kemenah pulled
away from Blaney on this restart and again following the final restart two
circuits later. McCarl took one shot at passing Blaney on the final restart,
but Blaney held him off as Kemenah pulled away to a four car length win over
Blaney’s Andrews Motorsports No. 72. McCarl held on for third with Logan
fourth and 12th starting Jerrod Hull fifth. Next were Danny Smith, Greg
Wilson, Tim Montgomery who ran with a flipped up nose wing, Kinser, back
from the tail and Phil Gressman on a very cold and windy night.

The B&B Products heat went to Alex Shanks, the Engler Machine and Tool
heat was won by Terry Babb and the TP Wings heat fell to Jesse Gianetto. The
University of Northwestern Ohio B Main winner was Paul May. Crown Battery
heat race winner Campbell captured the Haulmark Dash for the second night in
a row and Kinser was the Huggins Cams Fast Time qualifier.

Haulmark All Star Sprint Results – Paducah Intl Raceway -
Fri. 4/2/04 By Scott Hall

By Scott Hall

PADUCAH, KY – Danny Smith out dueled Kelly Kinser, then held off first
Dale Blaney and later Greg Wilson Friday night to win Paducah International
Raceway’s season opener for the Haulmark All Star sprint car series’ silver
anniversary season. The 30 lap feature paid Smith $5,000 for his 25th career
All Star win, the first All Star race on the 3/8 mile high banked oval since
a 1981 Lee Osborne win.

“I lost my good friend and great mechanic Jim Bennett, and to come back
the first night out with the son turning the wrenches tonight it was pretty
special,” an emotional Smith said in tribute to his late mechanic who
suffered a heart attack two weeks ago. “The track was smooth, but it wasn’t
a runaway. Once Kelly got by me I changed my line a little bit and got her
through to the front. When you start on the front row you don’t have much
strategy, just run as hard as you can.” Smith also credited new engine
sponsor Doug Williams Trucking and thanked Alan Kiger of Pence Olds-GMC for
his support of his self owned Maxim.

With Smith starting from the pole, Kinser was outside row one with Wilson
and Jeremy Campbell in row two, followed by Blaney and Terry McCarl. Smith
led the first two circuits before Kinser got by for the lead with a pass in
turn two. Then Kinser led the third lap before a caution for Brock Mayes’
machine which was stopped on the backstretch. Kinser led for the restart,
but by lap six Smith once again was able to get by his fellow Hoosier state
driver to regain the lead.

At lap 13, following another caution, the restart lineup was Smith,
Kinser, Wilson, Blaney, McCarl and Kemenah, up from 10th starting spot.
Kinser tried to dive under Smith when the green reappeared, but to no avail.
Blaney now applied pressure to Kinser and took second on lap 17 as Smith
pushed his lead to half a straightaway. Blaney began to reel in Smith in
lapped traffic and on lap 22 Smith was in the low groove with Blaney trying
a high side pass, but lapped traffic thwarted Blaney’s charge. Ryan Coniam
and Phil Gressman made contact on lap 23, bringing out a caution. While
awaiting the restart lineup, Blaney’s right rear tire began losing air,
forcing him pitside for a new tire, ending a great charge. This moved Wilson
into second ahead of Kinser with Campbell fourth and McCarl fifth.

As Smith moved away from the pack when the green was displayed, action
was fast and furious for second through fourth with Kinser diving low to try
and move around Wilson as McCarl challenged Campbell. McCarl got past both
Campbell and Kinser in one fell swoop to come home third after running out
of time to catch Wilson. At the stripe it was Smith over Wilson, McCarl, who
admitted he misread the track and stayed on the bottom too long, Kinser and
Campbell. Defending All Star champ Kemenah was sixth ahead of eighth starter
Jerrod Hull, Bill Rose, Tim Montgomery and Ricky Logan.

The Crown Battery heat fell to Wilson, the B&B Products heat went to
Kemenah, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by Ryan Coniam and the TP
Wings heat fell to Paul May. Jesse Gianetto won the University of
Northwestern Ohio B Main, in which Chuck Walker flipped without injury.
Campbell captured the Haulmark Dash and McCarl was the Huggins Cams Fast
Time qualifier.

THREE ILLINOIS TRACKS ADDED TO ALL-STAR SCHEDULE

By Scott Hall

CAMARGO, IL (3/25/04)- Three Illinois dirt tracks have just now been
added to the Haulmark All-Star Circuit of Champions sprint car schedule.
The new additions are: Belle-Clair, Spoon River and Macon Speedways. Each
track will be exciting venues for the popular winged 410 sprint series.

Belle-Clair Speedway in the St. Louis suburb of Belleville, IL will host
the All-Stars on Wednesday, June 9th. The high-banked one-fifth mile clay
oval will kick off a five race swing through the Midwest for the All-Stars
in June. Shows at Lake Ozark MO and Yellville AR, Farmington, MO, and
Haubstadt, IN will follow on successive nights. While the All-Stars have
never competed at Belle-Clair, the track has run sprint car races in recent
years. The last sprint show at Belle-Clair was an open event in 1999 won by
Jerrod Hull.

Spoon River is the next Illinois track added to the All-Star schedule in
July. The banked 3/8 mile oval, located in Canton, near Peoria, will feature
the All-Stars on Friday, July 30th. Spoon River is a favorite stop for
sprint car competitors and their fans. Each fall the track hosts a
traditional open competition event for the open wheel cars and plays to a
full house. The July 30th date will be the first ever visit for the
All-Stars to Spoon River.

Macon Speedway located south of Decatur will feature the All-Stars on
Friday, September 10th. Widely known to stock car fans, the tight 1/5 mile
high banked Macon dirt track has sprinkled open wheel events on its calendar
through the years. The September 10th show at Macon will be the first time
in eight years that the All-Stars have competed there. Danny Smith was the
last All-Star victor at Macon, winning there in 1996.

All three Illinois All-Star shows are being promoted by Brian Thompson
of Belleville and will be broadcast with live audio on www.RSBN.net . For
more information call 618-473-9512 or direct inquiries via e-mail to

Farmington prepares for All Star Invasion April 3

By Scott Hall

“America’s Series, The All Star Circuit of Champions” presented by Haulmark Race Trailers

FARMINGTON, Mo. - The All-Star Circuit of Champions sprint car series
will visit the St. Francois County Raceway (SFCR) during their second event
of the season on Saturday, April 3rd. The SCFR event is day two of All Star
opening weekend, with the kickoff for the 25th anniversary All Star season
Friday night April 2 at Kentucky’s Paducah International Raceway.

The event is being co-promoted between the current promoters of the track
(Larry Minkel of Farmington and Gary Montgomery of Fredericktown) and the
new promoter Cory Franklin of Potosi.

Last year when the All-Stars visited SFCR the locals defeated the All Star
regulars.

"The locals put it on them last year and kinda embarrassed them," Minkel
said. "So this upcoming event is going to be a grudge match."

If Mother Nature cooperates, the timing of the show should allow for some
of the largest numbers of participants in the history of the track for
sprint cars.

"I think there will be a lot of cars there," Minkel said. "There will be
cars from four or five different states I bet, including around 15 of the
All-Stars."

The All-Stars are scheduled for a second night of racing at SFCR on
Saturday, June 12th. Both events will be broadcast with live audio on the
internet at www.RSBN.net

Minkel said he estimates the number of total sprint cars to participate
in the event to exceed the 50-car count.

Also IMCA style Modifieds will also be on hand during the special event at
St. Francois County Raceway. Gates open at 3:00 p.m., time trials commence
at 5:30 p.m. and racing begins at 6:00 p.m.

For more information on the event contact Minkel at (573) 756-1734 or
Franklin at (573) 438-4546. For more information on SFCR visit the track's
website at: http://jeff.mills.tripod.com/sfcr.html

ALL STARS RETURN TO MACON AFTER EIGHT YEAR HIATUS

By Scott Hall

MACON, IL – (3/15/04) In an exciting announcement, race promoter Brian Thompson has inked a deal to bring the Haulmark All-Star Circuit of Champions sprint car series back to Macon Speedway in Macon, Illinois on Friday, September 10th.

Located south of Decatur, Macon was once a favorite stop on the All-Star tour for fans and competitors alike. Open-wheel races, especially the All-Star events held here in years past, have been especially exciting and action-packed.

Macon is, without a doubt, one of the smallest tracks in the nation that sprint cars have competed. The clay oval, with its tight confines and high-banks, measures one-fifth mile in length.

"Those All-Star shows at Macon were absolutely unreal", exclaimed Thompson. "When you put a full field of winged 410's on a track that size it's like watching fighter planes whip around a high school gymnasium!"

Neighboring Jacksonville Speedway, which hosts a weekly winged sprint program on Friday nights, will not be running on September 10th so a large field of cars is anticipated.

The All-Star Circuit of Champions last competed at Macon in 1996 with Danny Smith claiming the victory.

Macon Speedway is located in the village of Macon off U.S. Highway 51. For more information on the September 10th Macon All-Star show, contact Brian Thompson at 618-473-9512 or via e-mail at thompson10@accessus.net .

All Stars reschedule Oglethorpe Speedway Park event to Sept. 24-25

The date was changed because the Savannah Tourism Board will now be sponsoring the two-day sprint car racing event, and more time is needed for the board to properly promote and advertise the race.

Chad Kemenah Prepares for All Star Season Opener at
Oglethorpe Speedway Park March 5-6

By Scott Hall

CAMARGO, IL - The All Star Circuit of Champions sprint cars will open their 25th anniversary season with a first-ever visit to the half-mile Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Savannah Georgia on Friday and Saturday night March 5-6. All Star points champion Chad Kemenah is excited about beginning the defense of his points title in the twinbill event.

All the regular All Star competitors are expected to be on hand for the first points race of the season including defending two-time All Star champion Kemenah. The Findlay, Ohio resident drove the Harble Motorsports Eagle chassis to five feature wins during the 2003 season, recording a total of 39 top ten finishes. Kemenah also recorded seven fast times, eight Haulmark Dash wins, 13 heat race wins and five B Main checkered flags. Kemenah's team was supported by Underground Utilities, Inc., Hyundai, American Augers, Kear's Speed Shop, Kistler Engines, Hoosier Tire, Sander, Pro-shocks, Design 500, Flocon, Banshee Graphics and SSE Helmets.

Kemenah started his racing career in 1988 with a street stock he ran at several local tracks in northwestern Ohio. He would race this division until 1992 when he made his first debut in a sprint car. The next two seasons held seat time with several different owners including the Burmeister No. 16 sprint car. This ride carried out through mid-season 1994 when he stepped into the Chuck Steinbrick No. 92 machine. Kemenah quickly showed his talent as he took the track championship at Buckeye Speedway in 1995 and 1996.

In early 1997 he made the transition to the UUI/Harble Motorsports team. It started out as a "one night ride" for the talented young man and has since turned into a long-lasting venture. The team is quite a family operation as Chad's brother Brian is mechanic on the car along with his nephew A.J. And success has followed Kemenah ever since.

With many other speedways not yet open for competition, many drivers from across the United States are expected to battle the All Star regulars on the D-shaped half mile clay oval at Oglethorpe.

Ryan Coniam Set For All Star Opener!!!

By Scott Hall

MASSILON, OH - Canadian sprint car star Ryan Coniam has teamed up with Pete Grove's Premier Motorsports sprint car team for the 2004 season, and the combination is hoping to challenge for the All-Star Circuit of Champions points title. The All Star sprint cars will open their 25th anniversary season with a first-ever visit to the half-mile Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Savannah (Pooler) Georgia on Friday and Saturday night March 5-6.

"Pete and I started talking in November and things just continued to progress to us working together," said Coniam, a native of Burlington, Ontario, Canada. "The past few years I've been trying to run my own team and drive, which can take a toll on a guy. With this new deal, I can concentrate on getting better on the track. Pete has top notch equipment, and I'm really looking forward to driving these J&J cars. I've seen a lot of guys run to the front in them and I'm hoping we can do the same this year."

Coniam, the 2003 All-Star Rookie-of-the-Year, joins a team that finished third in last year's Knoxville Nationals. He has raced several types of cars during his career including Supermodified cars. He finished fifth in last year's All-Star standings.

"I'm really thrilled to have Ryan drive for me this year," said Grove. "We kinda got a late start last year and really got everything together in July. We did well at the Nationals and won some All-Star races in the fall, and we're looking forward to being more of a factor this year. Last year, I had the chance to watch Ryan closely and really feel like we've got a great young talent."

Craig Stevens will take over the crew chief duties and brings a lot of experience to the program. He climbed his way up the sprint car mechanic ladder working with several World of Outlaws teams and drivers including Danny Lasoski, Johnny Herrera, Dennis Roth Motorsports and Holbrook Motorsports. Last season, Stevens was the crew chief for the Al Harrison #22 sprinter that won the World of Outlaws Texas Motor Speedway event in October.

"Craig and I worked together a couple of years ago when I drove for Junior Holbrook," said Coniam. "Craig has been through the wars and has had a lot of success. He and I communicate really well, which is really important in this business. The guy knows how to keep a car under his driver, and I really believe he can motivate me to be the best every time I hit the track."

The #70 Premier Motorsports team has product relationships with J&J Auto Racing, Lev Wings, Linc Systems Inc., Sander Engineering, Red Devil Brakes, Winters Performance, Hoosier Racing Tires, Goodridge, and B&B Oval Products.

The team will debut the #70 J&J on March 5 at Oglethorpe Speedway in Savannah, GA. They will compete in every All-Star race. Coniam and the team have set several goals, but beginning the season with consistency is the key.

"We know winning a championship takes consistency," continued Coniam. "Early on we're just hoping to have some solid top five runs. If we can consistently run well, our chances of the season goal will become a reality."

I-30 Event still on All Star Schedule

By Scott Hall

CAMARGO, IL - The All Star Circuit of Champions have a signed agreement for a two-day sprint car show at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas on May 14-15, 2004. Despite information being released to the contrary recently that another organization has a race scheduled at I-30 on those two dates, the All Stars consider it as an All Star sanctioned show.

"The event was listed on I-30's web site earlier this year as an All Star show," Guy Webb, President of the All Stars stated, "And we released the dates on our 2004 schedule. So they obviously agreed to have us there for a race weekend. We'll work together with the I-30 track officials in a cooperative manner to assure this will continue to be an All Star sanctioned show. It's still listed on our schedule so we'll work out the details moving forward and put on a great show in May for the I-30 fans."

All Stars Open 25th Anniversary Season at Oglethorpe Speedway Park March 5-6

By Scott Hall

CAMARGO, IL - The All Star Circuit of Champions sprint cars will open their 25th anniversary season with a first-time visit to the half-mile Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Savannah, Georgia on Friday and Saturday night March 5-6.

All the regular All Star competitors in "America's Series" are expected to be on hand for the first points race of the season. Expected entries include defending champion Chad Kemenah, "The Cajun Sensation" Jason Johnson, Greg "The Kid" Wilson, Flyin' Ryan Coniam, Bill Rose, Barry Ruble, Bruce Robenalt, Dale Blaney and Kelly Kinser. Canadian driver Coniam will debut his new ride, teaming up with Ohio car owner Pete Grove.

A bumper crop of drivers are expected to contend for 2004 Rookie-Of-The-Year honors. It will be the first chance to earn rookie points for the likes of Paul May, Andrew Palker, Randy Hannagan, Tim Hunter, Chad Blonde, Jeremy Campbell, Eddie Lynch and Ben Rutan.

With many other speedways not yet open for competition, many other drivers from across the United States are expected to battle the All Stars on the historic D-shaped half mile clay oval.

Since the last All Star sanctioned race in the Peach State was in 1995 at Rome Speedway, these March events will bring back the excitement of All Star sprint car racing to fans in the deep south.

OSP will provide a stiff test for all competitors, since the All Stars have never competed at the Georgia oval. Who will be able to read track conditions and get the right car setup? Which groove will be better, the inside, or the cushion? All these questions and more will be answered on March 5.

All Star Circuit of Champions competitors are reminded that 2004 memberships are now on sale. Memberships are required to earn All Star points and win contingency prizes, but memberships are not necessary to compete in an All Star sanctioned event. Membership forms are available at www.allstarsprint.com.

Oglethorpe Speedway Park celebrated it's 50th Anniversary in 2001. The half mile speedway has entertained race fans since May of 1951. Many of today's most recognized racers have turned laps at Savannah's famous speed plant. Former NASCAR Winston Cup champions Ned Jarrett, Glenn "Fireball" Roberts, David Pearson, Joe Weatherly, Buddy Baker, Speedy Thompson and Lee Petty have competed at Oglethorpe Speedway Park.

Current owner, Emory Stone, purchased the speedway in 1977. Since then, Oglethorpe Speedway Park has led the way for many tracks in the south. Stone was the first promoter to offer dirt racers a purse of over $45,000. He was also the first dirt track to sign on with the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series in 1984.

For more information visit www.allstarsprint.com or call 217-352-9221. You can reach the speedway at 912-964-RACE or visit www.ospracing.net. OSP is located just off I-95, exit 102 or I-16, exit 160.

The complete All Star 2004 sprint car schedule will be released shortly.

All Stars to return to Volusia Speedway Park again in 2005

By Scott Hall

CAMARGO, IL - Volusia Speedway Park officials and the president of the All Star Circuit of Champions, Guy Webb, have reached an agreement which will bring the traveling sprint car series back to the Barberville, FL oval for a four-night event in February, 2005.

Although the All Stars will not be competing at Volusia this February for the first time since 1983, a contract has been signed for the All Stars to return next year on Thursday through Sunday Feb. 3,4,5 and 6, 2005.

"We've worked hard to settle the minor differences between our organization and the folks at Volusia Speedway Park," Webb stated when making the announcement. "In fact, we'll have two of our officials, Steve Failor and Craig Jensen, working in the pits at Volusia helping officiate for this year's Volusia sprint series in February. Volusia is glad to have us back for next year and many years to come."

"We've made the same offer to the management of East Bay Raceway Park, hopefully paving the way for a return to East Bay in 2005," Webb added. "I have made numerous attempts and offers to work out the details with them also, and are anxiously awaiting their reply."

The move was made in order to recapture the tradition of the All Stars opening the season in Florida, allowing sprint car fans the opportunity to see the best drivers in the business before action resumes up north. If East Bay joins Volusia in welcoming the All Stars back next season, a time honored tradition of Florida racing will be restored, benefiting both fans and drivers.

In other All Star news, the 2004 schedule should be released within the next three days, pending the finalization of race dates by several speedways. RSBN.net will be broadcasting audio of 2004 racing events live on the internet, and a television contract with the Outdoor Channel is in the final stages of negotiation. Also, drivers and car owners are reminded to purchase memberships for the upcoming season. Details and membership forms are available on the All Star web site.
