Shane Stewart Takes Ol' Glory #4m to Knoxville

From mIn Motorsports Management, OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (April 26, 2004) - Bixby, Oklahoma's Shane Stewart is making a habit of running up front in World of Outlaws sprint car series action. Shane hopes to continue that trend by collecting his second WoO series victory aboard the Ol' Glory Energy Drink No. 4m this weekend when the World of Outlaws invade the famed Knoxville Raceway half-mile clay oval.

After recently posting his first career World of Outlaws feature triumph in wire-to-wire fashion at Thunder Valley Speedway in Union Hill, LA, on March 26, Shane enters the Knoxville event coming off two more consecutive weekends of strong performances in Scott Chilcutt's Wesmar-powered Penske Shocks/mIn Motorsports Management Maxim.

Shane and the No. 4m team also found Knoxville Raceway to their liking last August, notching their first ever "A" Feature triumph at Knoxville and a seventh place finish in the Knoxville Nationals en route to Mr. Sprint Car honors for the 2003 edition of Southern Iowa Speedweek.

Shane's recent roll got under way at Sedalia's historic State Fair Speedway on April 16, where crew chief Rob Hart and Eric Manfrass were kept busy as Shane pulled double-duty, competing in both the World of Outlaws and Winged Outlaw Warriors (WOW) portions of the show.

In the WOW 360-ci feature, Shane wasted little time hustling the Hoosier-shod Sander Engineering/Brodix machine from his seventh starting position into second in just three quick laps. Shane set his sights on race leader and 2002 NASCAR Nextel Cup champion Tony Stewart, reeling the leader in as lapped traffic became a factor in the final rounds. With the feature cut to 15-laps due to time constraints, the checkered flag flew before Shane had the chance to make the winning move.

Moments later, Shane gridded the Banshee Graphics/B&B Oval Products sprinter on the outside front row of the WoO main event. Shane outgunned polesitter Kraig Kinser at the drop of the green flag and showed the quick way around the half-mile oval in the Schoenfeld Headers/HRP Wings machine for 19 rounds before settling for his second runner-up finish of the night, this time behind the "King of the Outlaws", Steve Kinser.

The next night, at I-55 Raceway in Pevely, MO, a wheel packed with mud while leading his heat put Shane behind the eight ball from the outset. Shane rebounded in strong fashion by winning the ?B? Feature to transfer to the evening's main event, then stormed from his 19th starting slot to finish tenth in the "A" Feature.

After a Batesville rainout this past Thursday, Shane came from the sixth starting position at the Talladega Short Track to make a last lap pass of Kraig Kinser to snare yet another runner-up finish in WoO action.

With three runner-up finishes in his last four starts, Shane and the No. 4m Ol' Glory team seek to carry that front-running momentum into Knoxville, IA, this weekend and parlay it into their second WoO victory of the year.

RED RIVER VALLEY SPEEDWAY TO HOST
WORLD OF OUTLAWS LATEMODEL SERIES THIS SPRING

February 27, 2004

NORMAN,OK -- Red River Valley Speedway will set the stage for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series on Wednesday, May 12th. The WoO Late Models will be making their West Fargo debut during the year - long Centennial Celebration of the Red River Valley Fair. Though the temperatures may still be on the chilly side, the WoO Late Model Series' Dirty Dozen will be sure to heat up the competition for an outstanding show at one of the country's finest and fastest ½ mile dirt tracks. Red River Valley Fair Manager Bruce Olson welcomed the opportunity to bring the excitement of the World of Outlaws Late Models to his track not only once, but three times this season. "We haven't run late models here in some time, but we're really excited to have them back and be a part of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series first season schedule," said Olson. When asked his feelings on the WoO Dirty Dozen concept initiated by five-time National Champion Scott Bloomquist, Olson replied, "I think it's great, you're guaranteed to bring in the best talent in the country to compete against our own local talent - there's nothing better. It's going to make for great show."

Joining Bloomquist in the 2004 WoO Dirty Dozen are Mike Balzano (E1), Dale McDowell (17M), Rick Eckert (24), Bart Hartman (75), Billy Moyer (21), Steve Francis (15), Chub Frank (1), Dan Schlieper (9), Wendell Wallace (88), Rick Aukland (12) and Darrell Lanigan (29). Despite the grumblings from the rumour mill over the WoO LMS 2004 schedule and controversies surrounding several competing events, Olson commented, "Hey, there's only seven days in a week, so there's going to be that competition. The main thing is, go enjoy the sport that you love, whether it's late models, golf, or whatever." And the $10,000 to-win May 12th show is just the beginning. Fans who enjoy the Red River Valley show will get the opportunity to literally come back for more when the WoO Late Model Series Dirty Dozen return for a re-match Friday and Saturday, August 6 and 7th where the stakes will be high, $5,000 to win Friday and $40,000 to win Saturday. Ticket information for the May 12th event can be found on the Red River Valley Speedway web site at www.redrivervalleyspeedway.com after March 15, or call the Speedway direct at 1-800-456-6408.

READING RACING REUNION SHOW ATTRACTS HUGE CROWD TO FAIRGROUNDS SQUARE

CONTACT: BOB MILLER TOTHILL98@aol.com

Reading, PA - February 28, 2004.....The 19th annual Reading Racing Reunion and Car Show, presented by the Reading Eagle Company, NAPA Auto Parts, COMDIAL Communications, and Ray's Yamaha, is now in the history books with the close of the seven-day show Saturday night . The 2004 edition of the week long show, which saw 112 race cars as well as various speedways, racing organizations, and racing related vendors participate in the event, attracted over 85,000 people to the Fairgrounds Square Mall, according to preliminary estimates by mall officials. The show is an annual tribute to the Reading Fairgrounds Speedway, which was located on the site where the mall sits, as well as a preview of the upcoming outdoor racing season, with race cars on display of all types and styles.

After having different events booked for each night at center court of the mall, the climax of the week is the Legends Reunion Ceremony, which takes place on Friday night. This year over thirty former competitors of the speedway attended the reunion, getting interviewed and having a "2004 Class of the Fairgrounds" photo taken of everyone onstage. With the mall packed with fans, this year's ceremony was a little more emotional than most years, as each driver took time to honor the late Lindy Vicari with a short memory or anecdote of the longtime Reading Fairgrounds Speedway promoter with ceremony host Keith Fritz. Vicari's children, Vince, John and Regina, were also in attendance, taking time to go up on stage to honor their father, who passed away in September 2003. Vicari, a lifelong Berks County resident, promoted racing and other events at what was considered to be one of the nation's finest dirt tracks, the Reading Fairgrounds Speedway, for over twenty-five years.

At the conclusion of the ceremony at the mall, the celebration continued at the Goodwill Fire Company, which was the location for the BASH Racing Movie Party, which ended at 1AM with everyone in attendance enjoying the playing of the non-stop racing movies and dance music. During the BASH, all the mall show awards were presented, with a video presentation produced by Bill Bush Videos that was choreographed to the presentations, hosted by MC Jeff Ahlum. Seven categories of racecars were judged, with the winners going home with a beautiful trophy to honor their achievement. Winners were as follows:

BEST APPEARING GO KART: #11 Knabb Racing

BEST APPEARING MICRO: #17 Brent Ely

BEST APPEARING LATE MODEL: #7B Buddy Wharton

BEST APPEARING SPRINT CAR: #63 Josh Weller

BEST APPEARING MODIFIED: #21K Kyle Weiss

BEST APPEARING RESTORED RACE CAR: #4 Dick Quallio

BEST APPEARING CAR/DISPLAY OF SHOW: #99 Lauden Seigfried

Plans for the 2005 Reading Racing Reunion & Car Show are already in the works, with show organizers Bob and Donna Miller announcing that the show will again take place on the last week of February . Bob Miller, a former employee at the Reading Fairgrounds Speedway, said when asked about the success of the show, "This show wouldn't be possible without the cooperation of the mall and its merchants, along with all the participants each year. It's a lot of work by everyone involved, and we are trying to plan some really special events for next year, which will be the 20th edition of the show. The old-timers are a big part of this event, and Mike Grim and the Fidler family are really a big part in pulling this part of the show together. All the mall merchants I spoke to were happy with the increased traffic this show brings to the mall each year, and they were already looking forward to next year. All the help by the race teams, bringing their beautiful cars in and out without incident, makes this show as successful as it is."

The 2004 Reading Racing Reunion & Car Show program book, produced by Joe Wylezik, is still available in limited quantities. Price for this book, with stories and photos about the show, is $4.50, which includes shipping and handling. Contact Joe at 2402 Garden Lane, West Lawn, PA 19609. 19TH ANNUAL READING RACING REUNION & CAR SHOW ATTRACTS 112 RACE CARS AND LARGE OPENING DAY CROWD SUNDAY

CONTACT: BOB MILLER TOTHILL98@aol.com
215-860-5631

Reading, PA - February 22, 2004....The 2004 edition of the Reading Racing Reunion and Car Show, sponsored by the Reading Eagle Company, NAPA Auto Parts, COMDIAL Communications, and Ray's Yamaha, opened today at 11AM at the Fairgrounds Square Mall, with over 110 race cars of all types on display throughout the mall walkways. This show, in its 19th year produced by organizers Bob and Donna Miller, is a tribute to the Reading Fairgrounds Speedway, which closed in 1978 after 55 years of hosting some of the finest dirt track racing events and action in the United States on its1/2 mile clay oval. The Fairgrounds Square Mall, located on the former site of the speedway on the Fifth Street Highway in Reading, PA, annually attracts over 80,000 visitors to the mall for the weeklong show, making it the highest attended event at the facility.

This year's show is dedicated to the memory of the late Lindy Vicari, the Berks County resident who promoted the weekly racing action at the Fairgrounds for 25 years. Also on the agenda for the week is a salute to the "Reading Rocket," Russ Smith. Smith was the Flathead Champion in 1962, which was the final year of competition for that division, with the modifieds taking over the spotlight the following year. Smith finished as the all time leading feature winner for the Flatheads, with 23 wins to his credit. Smith competed with the modifieds for many years at the legendary Berks County Fairgrounds oval, but was never able to pick up that elusive modified victory.

One of the highlights of the Reading Racing Reunion and Car Show is the many restored racers that are brought out for the fans to see, bringing back memories of the great racing that took place at the Reading Fairgrounds Speedway week after week. This year's show is no different, with 13 of the former racers on display, mostly in like new condition. Out for the first time this year were the Piscopo #39, driven by the late Al Tasnady, and the red, white and blue #15 that was chauffeured by New Jersey's Billy "the Kid" Pauch in the early part of his career. Both of these legendary modifieds are replicas built to the exact copy of their modified counterparts.

Activities are planned for each night at the mall, with many interviews and autograph sessions being held at center court starting at 7PM. On tap Monday night is Bridgeport Speedway Night, with many drivers, owners, and track officials on hand to be interviewed by Show Announcer Jeff Ahlum. Also on Monday night, the week long salute to Russ Smith will begin, as well as a seminar hosted by Mike Grim, Dave Jensen, and Jim Fidler on 'How to Restore a Race Car.' Tuesday night will see two of the country's oldest traveling racing clubs take center stage, with the United Racing Club Sprints and the ARDC Midgets featured that night. "Thunder on the Hill" Night headlines on Wednesday night, as drivers and owners from that popular series, held each season at the Grandview Speedway, will get their time in the mall spotlight. "Modified Madness" takes over the mall on Thursday night, when the stars from Grandview and Big Diamond Speedways, as well the new DIRT Southeast Big Block Modified series, will get their time to shine.

Pat Hart Passes Away; Shane Stewart to skip Manzanita

from mIn Motorsports Management

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (February 19, 2004) Due to the unexpected death of Pat Hart, mother of team crew chief Rob Hart, Shane Stewart and the No. 4m Sprint Car team will not be in competition at this weekend's World of Outlaws season opener at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, AZ.

While we are both disappointed, Shane and I agree that nothing is more important than for Rob to be with his family this weekend, stated car owner Scott Chilcutt.

After recently returning to her Albany, NY, home from her 60th consecutive Florida Speedweeks, Pat fell unexpectedly ill and passed away on Wednesday, February 18. Pat is survived by husband Bob and children Mitzi, Rick, Rob and Misti. The matriarch of a bona fide family of racers, Pat, her husband, both sons and one daughter all drove racecars.

Details regarding services for Pat Hart are still pending at this time.

Shane and the No. 4m Sprint Car team will rejoin WoO action on February 28 at Perris (CA) Auto Speedway. Shane, along with crew team Rob Hart and Cathy Barrows, will compete on the early portion of the WoO trail before taking part in the first ever Sprint Bandits event at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, TX, on March 19-20.

Shane Stewart Ready for West Coast WoO Swing
after Strong Florida Start

Photo: Shane Stewart in action at East Bay Winternationals
( Photo by Neil Eric Miller )
from mIn Motorsports Management

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (February 17, 2004) – After a strong Florida Speedweeks that included the team’s first feature triumph of the year, Shane Stewart and the Oklahoma City-based No. 4m Sprint Car team is ready for the World of Outlaws season opener this weekend at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, AZ.

Shane will take to Manzanita’s fast half-mile clay oval riding a wave of momentum in Scott Chilcutt’s Wesmar-powered Penske Shocks/mIn Motorsports Management mount after establishing himself as one of this year’s top contenders by posting six top-four runs and ten top-ten finishes in eleven Florida features.

On the heels of a successful Australian tour that included one feature victory and four podium finishes, Shane’s 2004 stateside debut got off to a rocky start with a heat race tangle in the East Bay Raceway Park “King of the 360’s” opener on January 28. Shane gave the fans in Tampa their money’s worth though, advancing first through the “C” Feature in winning fashion, then advancing to the evening’s main event through the “B” Feature. Shane capped the night by charging from deep in the field to capture ninth.

The next night, Shane earned a front row outside starting position in the main event and proceeded to drive the Hoosier-shod Sander Engineering/Brodix No. 4m Maxim to victory lane. After a torrid battle for the lead over the first 18 rounds, Shane checked out on his rivals in the final seven laps to post the team’s first triumph of 2004.

With Shane solidly entrenched as a top contender for “King of the 360’s” honors, Mother Nature intervened, washing out the final two nights of action with no makeup date available.

Six nights of racing action atop Volusia Speedway Park’s half-mile dirt oval in Barberville was next on the docket for Shane and company. Shane settled for eleventh, his only finish outside the top ten, after suffering a cut right rear tire while battling among the top five in the latter stages of the Tuesday night, February 3, 360-ci feature.

Shane bounced back in strong form the next night by setting quick time aboard the Banshee Graphics/B&B Oval Products entry. Shane quickly advanced from his eighth starting slot in the feature, battling among the lead pack before taking the checkered flag in a strong third position.

With four nights of 360-ci action in the books, Rob Hart and Cathy Barrows swapped engines, putting the 410-ci Wesmar powerplant in place for the four-night Volusia Speedway Park Winter Nationals.

Shane led the way in the Schoenfeld Headers/HRP Wings machine for the opening ten rounds in Thursday night’s opener before traffic came into play. Poised to mount a bid to regain the lead in the final laps, an untimely caution appeared, giving the race leader a reprieve with a clear racetrack, forcing Shane to accept a solid second place finish.

After another top-ten run on Friday night (ninth), Shane recorded his fourth podium finish of Florida Speedweeks in Saturday’s feature by racing to third place. Ranked second in points over three nights of qualifying, Shane started Sunday night’s $10,000-to-win main event from the third row inside. Shane battled among the top five throughout the Volusia finale, ultimately taking the checkered flag in an impressive fourth position.

After two days off, Shane and crew returned to East Bay Raceway Pak for the 410-ci East Bay Raceway Park Winter Nationals. Continuing his trend of top finishes, Shane crossed the stripe eighth in the Wednesday, February 11, opener, then finished second in Thursday’s main event after a spirited battle for the lead. Shane then claimed ninth in Friday’s feature, amassing enough points over the three qualifying nights to rank fifth among the sturdy field of entries. Slated to start the Saturday, February 14, $10,000-to-win East Bay Winter Nationals finale from the front row outside, weather once again came into play, washing out the finale with no available rain date.

With a successful Florida Speedweeks in the books, Shane, along with crew team Rob Hart and Cathy Barrows, now makes the cross-country trek to compete in the World of Outlaws season opener at Arizona’s Manzanita Speedway on February 20-21.

Shane and the No. 4m team will compete in the early portion of the World of Outlaws schedule before taking to Devil’s Bowl Speedway near Dallas, TX, for the Sprint Bandits much-anticipated series debut on March 19-20. Shane and the No. 4m team will compete in approximately 100 racing events in 2004.

More information regarding Shane Stewart and the No. 4m Sprint car team, including the early season schedule and subsequent results, is available at www.min-motorsports.com.

Shane Stewart Ready for Florida Sprint Wars

from mIn Motorsports Management

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (January 27, 2004) – After keeping his skills sharp by racing in Australia the past few weeks, Tulsa’s Shane Stewart is ready to storm into Florida for 14 nights of Sprint Car racing aboard Scott Chilcutt’s Oklahoma-City based No. 4m racing team.

Upon closing out the 2003 season in strong fashion aboard the Penske Shocks/mIn Motorsports Management/Sander Engineering mount, Shane carried his momentum “Down Under”, where he finished fifth in Australia’s World Series Sprint Car points despite not being on hand for the first four of fourteen scheduled events. Shane delivered Aussie car-owner Bill Mann his first-ever WSS feature win with a triumph at Brisbane on January 6 and also reached the podium on three other occasions.

With his Australian journey completed this past weekend, Shane made the long flight home and is prepared to begin his 2004 Florida adventures at the helm of Chilcutt’s Wesmar-powered, Hoosier-shod Maxim this Wednesday night, January 28, as the four-night “King of the 360’s” Nationals kicks off at East Bay Raceway Park near Tampa. Shane will be among the leading candidates for Saturday night’s $10,000 winner’s share after finishing second in last year’s “King of the 360’s” Ronald Laney Memorial finale.

After a pair of USCS 360-ci events at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville on February 3-4, crew chief Rob Hart, with assistance from Cathy Barrows who will also have her hands full with the couple’s young daughter Ella, will quickly swap power plants in anticipation of this year’s first 410-ci events, which get under way the next night at Volusia. Volusia’s four-night 410-ci Winter Nationals, on tap for February 5-8, offers $10,000-to-win in the Sunday night, February 8, finale.

Action then shifts back to Florida’s gulf coast, as Shane will try to pilot the Brodix/Banshee Graphics/B&B Oval Products entry to victory lane in East Bay’s 410-ci Winter Nationals, slated for February 11-14.

There will be little time for rest upon the completion of 14 nights of racing over the span of 18 days in Florida, as Shane and the Schoenfeld Headers/HRP Wings No. 4m team will travel to Arizona for the World of Outlaws season opener at Manzanita Speedway on February 20. The team will compete on the early portion of the WoO tour before taking to Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, TX, for the much anticipated, first-ever Sprint Bandits event.

After a strong 2003 season, which included ten feature victories, 40 top-five finishes and 62 top-tens over 93 nights of racing at 48 different race tracks throughout 19 different states from coast-to-coast, even bigger things are anticipated from Shane and the No. 4m team in 2004.

More information regarding Shane Stewart and the No. 4m Sprint car team, including the early season schedule and subsequent results, is available at www.min-motorsports.com.

Lonnie Wheatley

TULSA, Okla. (January 3, 2004) - Nineteen different drivers from fifteen states collected Golden Driller trophies at Tulsa Expo Raceway Saturday night by collecting feature victories in the finale of the 19th Annual Tulsa Shootout presented by Brodix.

With more than 1,200 entries from 30 states and Canada, it was thirteen-year-old Brady Bacon of Broken Arrow, OK, shining in the Micros, winning the "A" Class Sportsman feature and finishing second in both the 600cc Multi and Non-Wing features.

Iowa's Chad Waller and North Carolina's Grayson Brookshire both collected a pair of victories in Kart action, as ten drivers from eight different states garnered Kart victories in twelve main events.

Long-time Tulsa Shootout Quad standout Gregg Bakker of Sioux Falls, SD, added another Golden Driller to his collection by topping the Open Pro Quad feature, then finished a close second in the 250cc Pro Quad main event.

Micros

While Rodney Stealy of Lakeville, IN, topped the headline Micro feature in the 600 cc Multis, it was young Brady Bacon who stole the Micro spotlight by topping one feature and scoring a pair of runner-up finishes.

In the 600cc Multi 20-lap main event, Josh Pickle led the opening 13 rounds before Stealy charged into the lead. Stealy survived a late caution to secure the victory over seventh-starter Bacon, tenth-starter Matt Reagan, Leon Bacon and Jeff Stasa.

Bacon led the Non-Wing 20-lap feature field to the green flag with Ronnie James alongside. James, hailing from Sapulpa, OK, outgunned Bacon to grab the early lead and paced the field throughout. James fought off Bacon and Donnie Ray Crawford to record the win, with Dean Drake and Dex Eaton giving Oklahoma drivers a sweep of the top five.

Not to be denied a Golden Driller, Bacon took command of the 20-lap "A" Class feature at the outset and survived a pair of late cautions to seal the victory. After starting ninth, Jerrod Wilson made a late bid but settled for second, with Austin Laskey in the show position. Steve Ring and Mike Owings rounded out the top five.

Nebraska's Jack Dover turned in a strong performance in the 15-lap Restricted "A" Class feature, beating Tyler Edwards and Jonathan Cornell to the line, with California's Dustin Rhodes emerging from a wild battle for the lead to top Jonathan Bishop and Cody Baker in the 12-lap Junior Sprint feature.

Tennessee's Don Young took victory honors in Junior II action in front of Ryan Beckham and Cameron Koopman, while Ross Bohmann of Forney, TX, claimed his second Tulsa Shootout Junior I feature victory in as many years, leading Kyle Jumbeck and Tyler Townsend to the line.

Quads

Hoserville, Ohio

Scott Hall

A group of Ohio sprint car fans, all involved with Hoseheads.com in some capacity, has formed Hoserville Ohio. Board members include Duane Hancock, Greg Smith, Bob Cundiff, Jonathan Bateman, and Scott Phillips. Hoserville Ohio is a non-profit group who's mission is to help Ohio based sprint car teams or teams racing in Ohio on a regular basis. Our main goal is to create a recovery fund for injured sprint car drivers. This will pertain to all divisions and classes in the state of Ohio including 305's and 360's. Also, some funds raised will be used to sponsor certains events, heat races, halfway awards, or such, like we did at Eldora last year for the Mopar Million, at select tracks in 2004. The 1st benefit and fundraiser takes place at the Day's Inn in Findlay Ohio on March 6th from 11am to 4:30 pm. Several local and national drivers have expressed interest in attending this event. A list of drivers will announced at a later date. An autograph session will take place from 11-12. A question and answer session with the drivers from 12-1. Finally, from 1-4:30 pm, an auction with several one of a kind items from sprint car teams, NASCAR, and other racing merchadise will be on hand. Many items will be autographed. A list of items will be released at a later date as they are received. Tim's Sprint Car Simulators will also be on hand for everyone's entertainment. Day's Inn is located right off I-75 at the Route 12 exit. Anyone wanting more information can contact Duane at 419-630-0482, Greg 419-423-8922, Bob 419-562-4316, or Scott 419-299-3558.
