Fred's Trailer Parts Center NJ State Sprint Series Continues. . . . . CURT MICHAEL TAKES URC WIN ON THE FAST TRACK SATURDAY NIGHT AT BRIDGEPORT

CONTACT: BOB MILLER - - TOTHILL98@aol.com

BRIDGEPORT, NJ MAY 1, 2004 . . . . . . "This is the Bridgeport track I remember," said an elated Curt Michael after winning the twenty-five lap URC Advance Auto Parts Sprint feature event on Saturday night at the Bridgeport Speedway. Michael was making reference to the excellent track conditions that produced the fastest laps so far this season in URC competition. For Michael, it was not an easy win, taking the lead on lap nineteen when race leader Scott Pursell spun due to a flat tire. Michael survived a late race challenge from Dave Ely and the race winners brother Sean Michael, to score his second win of the season and twentieth career URC win.

With thirty-six cars in the pit area, four heat race event were required to qualify the field with victories going to Kevin Welsh, Randy West, Cliff Brian and Pete Green as Dave McGough won the "B" main.

The field was called to the speedway for the twenty-five lap URC sprint feature which is a point race on the season long URC Advance Auto Parts Title Chase as well as the Fred's Trailer Parts Center New Jersey State Sprint Series. Jason Clauss took the lead at the drop of the green flag with Scott Pursell in the chase. Clauss was the leader for the first three circuits then the yellow was displayed for Pete Green who stopped on the homestretch. On the restart, Clauss remained the pacesetter but just one lap later , Pursell became the new race leader.

The second yellow flag of the event came out on lap six for Jon Eldreth who spun in turn two while running a strong third. On the restart, Pursell remained the leader but now Kevin Welsh was in the hunt and closing in on the leader. Curt Michael was also on a drive to the front, now racing in third followed by defending URC Champion Dave Ely.

Junior Martin spun and brought out the yellow flag on lap twelve. On the restart, Pursell and Welsh continued to set the pace followed by Curt Michael, Sean Michael and Ely. By lap eighteen, Curt Michael was challenging the leader when the left rear tire blew sending the Pursell sprinter into a spin. Michael just narrowly missed the disabled sprinter of Scott Pursell as the yellow flag was displayed. This change of events turned the lead over to Curt Michael with Dave Ely now second.

With six laps remaining, Curt Michael, Dave Ely, Sean Michael, Kevin Welsh and Mike Haggenbottom were the front runners. Ely tried to get a run at the leader but Michael was not going to be challenged. Kevin Welsh brought out the yellow on lap twenty-four when he blew a tire running in the top five with two laps remaining.

Curt Michael took the green flag to restart the event but now his brother, Sean Michael was in the chase and running second. Just before the drop of the checker flag, the red flag was displayed on lap twenty-four when Brian Brittingham took a tumble in turn one. Brian was not injured in the accident.

The restart was a one lap run to the checker flag. Although Sean Michael tried every groove, he was not the match for Curt Michael. Curt took the victory over Sean with Dave Ely turning in an impressive third place finish followed by Brian Seidel and Cliff Brian.

FEATURE FINISH: Curt Michael, Sean Michael, Dave Ely, Brian Seidel, Cliff Brian, Mike Haggenbottom, Kramer Williamson, Josh Weller, Ed Aikin , Jon Eldreth, Randy West, Dave McGough, Bill Brian Jr., Joe Zuczek, Justin Collett, Mike Kostic, Junior Martin, Kevin Welsh, Brian Brittingham, Scott Pursell, Fran Hogue, Jason Clauss, Chris Coyle, Dave Gable, Pete Green. MICHAEL BROTHERS TOP URC POINT STANDINGS

CONTACT: BOB MILLER - - TOTHILL98@aol.com

LANGHORNE, PA . . . . . URC's racing brothers, Curt Michael and Sean Michael are currently ranked the top two drivers in the URC Advance Auto Parts Points after three events in 2004. Curt Michael of Ocean View, DE is a former URC champion, claiming the title in 1998 and currently owns nineteen career wins. Sean Michael of Allentown, PA is a two time URC Title winner, taking the championship honors in 1997 and 1999. Sean owns twenty-three career wins with URC. Both will be in high speed action this Saturday night at the Bridgeport Speedway.

Just three races into the URC season, the Michael brothers each have one victory. Sean won the opening day event at the Bridgeport Speedway. The following week, Curt was the winner in a five car battle for the victory at New Egypt. In the third event of the season, Brian Seidel stopped the Michael Brothers from a three race sweep, taking the victory in grand fashion, after starting twelfth at the Delaware International Speedway.

URC's fourth race of the season will take place at the "new" Bridgeport Speedway this Saturday night. The competition will again be keen and at Bridgeport, the huge five-eighth mile speedway always provides the fastest laps of any track on the URC schedule.

The season is young with more then thirty races still remaining on the Advance Auto Parts URC Sprint Series sponsored by BAR's Leaks. With that said, don't count out defending URC Champion Dave Ely. Ranked third in the current point standings, Ely is well within striking distance to take the point lead at any given time. Brian Seidel, the winner of twelve career URC victories is fourth in points with Dave McGough making up the top five.

Going into the Bridgeport event this Saturday night, Mike Haggenbottom is the current point leader of the Fred's Trailer Parts Center New Jersey Point Chase, a mini-point series within the URC season long tour.

The United Racing Club is set for the high speed, fast and wide racing at Bridgeport Speedway this Saturday night. Gates open at 3 PM with racing getting undereway at 6 PM. Taylor & Messick Delaware State Sprint Series Opens Saturday Night. . . . . BRIAN SEIDEL CHARGES FROM TWELFTH TO SCORE URC WIN AT DELAWARE INTL'

CONTACT: BOB MILLER - - TOTHILL98@aol.com

DELMAR, DE APRIL 24, 2004 . . . . .Just three events into the 2004 URC Advance Auto Parts Series and the racing just keeps getting better. Brian Seidel of Allentown, PA charged from his twelfth starting position to take the lead on lap seventeen to rally home the winner of the twenty-five lap URC sprint feature on Saturday night at the Delaware International Speedway. This show marked the opening event of the Taylor & Messick Delaware State Sprint Series and was the first win of the season for Seidel and his twelfth career win with the United Racing Club.

It was without a doubt an impressive win for Seidel but all eyes were on the sprint car of Justin Collett of Middletown, DE. Collett set the pace for the first fifteen laps and provided a great battle for runner-up Dave Ely and third place Curt Michael in the closing laps. Collett delivered a solid fourth place finish for his first career top five run.

The URC sprints attracted a field of thirty cars with heat race victories go to Jon Eldreth, Junior Martin an Jason Clauss as Billy Brian Jr. took the win the twelve lap "B" Main.

A field of twenty-four sprints started the feature event with Collett taking the lead at the drop of the green. On lap two, Josh Weller of Mertztown, PA spun in turn two, displaying the first caution flag of the event. On the restart, Collett was again the pace setter, this time with Scott Pursell and Dave Ely in the hunt.

On lap seven, Ed Aikin spun in turn two and the caution flag was displayed once again. The restart saw Collett remain the leader but now Ely was second followed Pusell, Kramer Williamson and Brian Seidel right in the chase. Collett ran perfect laps and he just never made a mistake. In the meantime, Seidel was now well on his way and racing in third as Ely continued to look for lane to get around Collett.

As the field passed for the halfway sign, the yellow flag was again displayed for John Weller. The restart saw Collett remain cool and calm and was he just not going to move out of his groove. On lap fifteen, Seidel moved to the inside lane, passing Ely for second. Just one lap later, Seidel became the new leader as Ely made the same move for second. All this shuffling now had Collett racing in third.

With five laps remaining, Seidel and Ely were at the head of the pack with Curt Michael third, Collett fourth and Sean Michael now in the top five. In the closing laps, Ely tried to reel in the leader but just ran short of time. Third place runner Curt Michael also made a run at the pace setters but only move within about five car lengths of runner-up Dave Ely.

Brian Seidel flashed under the checker flag to take the victory over defending point leader Dave Ely, Curt Michael, Justin Collett and Sean Michael. Making up the top ten were Dave McGough, Kramer Williamson, Dave Gable, Pete Welsh and Chris Coyle. The Hard Charger Award in the feature was presented to Chris Coyle after starting twenty-four and finishing tenth. Mike Haggenbottom, the point leader going into this event, was involved in a heat race accident that eliminated him from competition the balance of the night.

FEATURE FINISH: Brian Seidel, Dave Ely, Curt Michael, Justin Collett, Sean Michael, Dave McGough, Kramer Williamson, Dave Gable, Kevin Welsh, Chris Coyle, Scott Pursell, Jason Clauss, Jon Eldreth, Tim Hogue, Randy West, Gary Gollub, Joe Zuczek, Mike Kostic, Ashley Parlett, Bill Brian Jr., Junior Martin, Josh Weller, Ed Aikin, JJ Grasso. CURT MICHAEL BEST IN FIVE CAR RACE TO THE
CHECKER FLAG SATURDAY AT NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY

CONTACT: BOB MILLER - - TOTHILL98@aol.com

NEW EGYPT, NJ APRIL 17, 2004 . . . . Curt Michael of Ocean View, Delaware won the twenty-five lap URC Advance Auto Parts sprint car feature event on Saturday night at the New Egypt Speedway. But in the exciting closing laps, all eyes were on Dave McGough, Chris Coyle, Dave Ely and Mike Haggenbottom they wrestled lap by lap for position. Coyle, driving the Kennedy/Turpin sprinter turned a few laps of rim-riding that brought the crowd to their feet as Dave McGough worked the low groove, nipping Coyle to earn the runner-up spot. The battle between McGough and Coyle, opened the door for defending champion Dave Ely and former champion Mike Haggenbottom to reel in the leaders. The competition ran short of time as Michael took the victory, his first of the season and nineteenth career URC win.

A field of thirty-three URC sprint cars turned out for the second event of the URC campaign and the second race of the Fred's Trailer Parts Center New Jersey Sprint Series. Heat race events were won by Kramer Williamson, Gary Gollub and Dave Gable as Josh Weller came home the winner of the "B" Main event.

A field of twenty-five URC sprint cars took the green flag in the twenty-five lap feature event. Before the first lap was complete, Cliff Brian spun in turn two, displaying the first caution flag of the race. On the restart, Chris Coyle gunned into an early lead was Dave McGough in the hunt. Jason Clauss stopped on the apron of the speedway and the yellow flag was waiving again, this time on lap three.

Coyle and McGough returned to their battle for the lead when green flag racing resumed, but once again, the yellow was displayed when Brian Seidel and Jon Eldreth tangled in turn four. With the green light back on, Coyle and McGough now had Curt Michael, Ed Aikin and Mike Haggenbottom in the top five. On lap nine, Michael moved into second and began to hunt down Coyle who was using the outside groove to thrill the fans with each passing lap.

A slight brush with the first time wall and Coyle opened the door for Curt Michael to make an inside move to take the lead. At the halfway sign, Michael has a scant lead with Coyle second followed by a persistent Dave McGough as Haggenbottom and Aikin followed in the top five.

Sean Michael of Allentown, PA and winner of the 2004 URC season opener at the Bridgeport Speedway, was involved in a tangle in his heat race and was forced to qualify through the "B" Main. Michael was on charge and even with an ill-handling sprint car, he was racing in the top ten on lap fifteen. Michael finished a strong seventh.

At the front of the pack, Michael was on top, maintaining a three car length lead over runner-up Dave McGough and third place Chris Coyle. McGough began to close in on the leader but Chris Coyle was once again building momentum in the high and wide outside lane. Just as the leaders found themselves in slower traffic, the yellow was displayed on lap nineteen for Justin Collett. With just six laps remaining, a thrilling finish was sure to climax this event.

Curt Michael took the green flag as Coyle passed McGough for second. With just five laps remaining, Coyle was now challenging Michael for the lead as McGough brought the company of Mike Haggenbottom and Dave Ely to party. Five cars were now racing for the win as Michael set the pace with McGough and Coyle in a dog-fight for second with Haggenbottom and Ely just off the pace.

On the white flag lap, Ely moved into fourth as Coyle attempted to set-up for the last lap pass for the lead. McGough slipped by Coyle to finish second with Dave Ely fourth and Mike Haggenbottom fifth.

FEATURE FINISH: Curt Michael, Dave McGough, Chris Coyle, Dave Ely, Mike Haggenbottom, Bill Brian Sr., Sean Michael, Kramer Williamson, Danny Massey, Randy West, Josh Weller, Matt Gerber, Ed Aikin, Tim Hogue, Scott Pursell, Doug Emery, Dave Gable, Justin Collett, Gary Gollub, Joe Zuczek, Jon Eldreth, Brian Seidel, Pete Green, Jason Clauss, Cliff Brian. DNQ-Trevor Lewis (Lewis qualified but was unable to start the feature due to mechanical problems), Ashley Parlett, Mike Kostic, Jim Wyers, Junior Martin, Travis Quinn, JJ Grasso, Kevin Welsh.

URC begins fifty-seventh season . . . . .. . . . .
SEAN MICHAEL DOMINATES URC OPENER SATURDAY AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY

CONTACT: BOB MILLER - - TOTHILL98@aol.com

BRIDGEPORT, NJ APRIL 10, 2004 . . . . . The United Racing Club opened their fifty-seventh season on Saturday night at the "new" Bridgeport Speedway. A big crowd saw the 1997 and 1999 URC Champion Sean Michael of Allentown, PA conquer a field of thirty-six sprint cars to win the lid-lifter driving the Cathy and Pat Palladino sprint car. For Michael, it was his twenty-third career URC victory. This event also marked the first race of the 2004 Fred's Trailer Parts Center NJ State Series.

A series of four URC heat race events were presented with victories going to Kevin Welsh, Dave Ely, Pete Green and Jim Wyers. The twelve lap URC "B" was won by Chris Coyle.

In the twenty-five lap Advance Auto Parts Sprint Series feature, Danny Massey was the early race leader driving the Scats Anfuso sprint car. The starting line-up was determined by a draw for the top twelve positions between the top three finishers in each heat race.

As Massey set the pace, Sean Michael and Dave Ely followed to make-up the top three. Joe Zuczek of Robbinsville, NJ was running a solid fourth as Brian Seidel driving the Mike Bostic sprinter followed to make up the top five.

The first caution of the event was displayed on lap six when J.J. Grasso spun in turn one. On the restart, Massey again held the top spot holding Michael to the runner-up spot. The top five remained unchanged with Massey, Michael, Ely, Zuczek and Seidel holding the top spots.

At the halfway point, the top five remained unchanged, however, Michael was racing well within striking distance to take the lead. The second caution of the race was displayed on lap fourteen when Grasso stopped on the homestretch. The restart saw Massey hold the top spot with Michael on his rear bumper.

One lap later, Michael made a bold outside bid to take the lead and successfully accomplished the move to become the new leader on lap eighteen. Michael ran to hide from the rest of the field until the caution was displayed on lap twenty-one for Dave Ely. While running a solid third, mechanical problems forced Ely off the pace to bring out the final yellow of the night on lap twenty-one.

With just four laps remaining, Sean Michael held off all challengers to score his first win of the season. Danny Massey finished second followed by Brian Seidel, Joe Zuczek and Kevin Welsh. Zuczek, turning in his best career finish with URC, was disqualified for not going directly to scales moving Tim Hogue into the top five. Making up the top ten were Mike Haggenbottom, Scott Pursell, Bill Brian Jr., Brian Brittingham and Pete Green.

FEATURE FINISH: Sean Michael, Danny Massey, Brian Seidel, Kevin Welsh, Tim Hogue, Mike Haggenbottom, Scott Pursell, Bill Brian Jr., Brian Brittingham, Pete Green, Jim Wyers, Josh Weller, Curt Michael, Randy West, Ed Aiken, Dave McGough, Chris Coyle, Doug Emery, Ashley Parlett, Cliff Brian, Gary Gollub, Dave Ely, JJ Grasso, Joe Zuczek. DNQ- -Trevor Lewis, Justin Collett, Matt Gerber, Junior Martin, Dave Gable, Jon Eldreth, Kramer Williamson, Wade Hendrickson, Mike Kostic, Mares Stellfox, Jason Clauss, Travis Quinn.

SEAN MICHAEL . . . URC'S ONLY REPEAT CHAMPION SINCE 1993

CONTACT: BOB MILLER - - TOTHILL98@aol.com

LANGHORNE, PA MARCH 14, 2004 . . . .Sean Michael of Allentown, PA
will return to URC this season, challenging the best of URC behind the wheel
of the powerful Kathy Palladino owned sprint car. Michael, the winner of
twenty-two URC features and two championships, also has the distinction of
being the only repeat champion since 1993. While weekly tracks and other
traveling racing series find the same drivers winning their point
championships year after year, that is not the case with URC. Since 1993,
ten different drivers have claimed the URC Championship title with Sean
Michael being the only repeat title winner. Michael won his first URC title
in 1997 when the club celebrated their 50th Anniversary. Michael returned
in 1999 to again claim the championship and since that time, the list of new
champions continues to grow.

Dave McGough (1993), Greg Coverdale (1994), Kramer Williamson (1995), Glenn
Fitzcharles (1996), Curt Michael (1998), Brian Seidel, (2000) Mike
Haggenbottom (2001), Bill Brian Jr (2002) and Dave Ely (2003) join Sean
Michael as the eleven year history of URC past champions. Looking to the
2004 season, Sean Michael and the Palladino sprinter will be a major
contender for the championship title, but don't court out brother Curt
Michael, who will be driving the Frank Davis owned sprint car.

Competition will be plentiful once again within URC. The Michael Brothers
will get their share of opposition, especially from defending URC Champion
Dave Ely. Driving the JMO sprinter, Ely would like nothing more then to
repeat his accomplishment of winning the URC Championship in 2002. Ely is
looking to be the first back-to-back URC Champion since Kramer Williamson
delivered that accomplishment in 1991 and 1992. Just for the record, Glenn
Fitzcharles won four consecutive URC titles from 1987 to 1990 and Dave Kelly
was the club champion from 1984 to 1986. Now lets go one step further. In
1981, Dave Kelly won his first URC title and won a total of five
championships through 1986. URC has certainly changed and so has the level
of competition.

The URC Advance Auto Parts Sprint Series sponsored by BAR's Leaks has a long
list of potential champions in the coming season. Trevor Lewis of Upper
Black Eddy, PA finished second in URC points last year and will be looking
to improve that finish by at least one position. Dave McGough of
Sassamansville, PA had a great comeback season to deliver a fourth place
finish in the 2003 point chase. McGough hopes to have even a closer shot at
winning the URC title in 2004. Kevin Welsh, Mike Haggenbottom, Bill Brian
Jr, Chris Coyle and Brian Seidel will all be in the hunt to win this years
URC title.

The new Bridgeport Speedway will host the URC opener on Saturday night,
April 10. This spacious five-eighth mile oval is home of some of the
fastest high speed sprint car racing in the country. The Fred's Trailer
Parts Center New Jersey Sprint Series will also begin with opening day at
Bridgeport. The New Jersey Series will continue with the second race of the
season at the New Egypt Speedway on Saturday night, April 17. To close out
the month of April, URC will make their first stop of the season at the
Delaware International Speedway on Saturday night, April 24.

A busy season is planned for URC with more then thirty-five events schedule
for 2004. The Advance Auto Parts Sprint Series will also visit
Pennsylvania, New York, Michigan, Iowa plus a two race stop in Canada.

LANGHORNE, PA JANUARY 25, 2004 . . . . The fifty-seventh season of the United Racing Club will kickoff at the Bridgeport Speedway on Saturday, April 10. This event will mark the first of thirty-seven race dates listed on the 2004 Advance Auto Parts URC Sprint Series. URC will visit their usual stops which include Bridgeport, Delaware International, New Egypt, Grandview, Williams Grove, Lincoln, Big Diamond, Penn Can, Fonda, Black Rock, Mercer, Selinsgrove, Rolling Wheels and the two race Canadian Series. URC will again be part of the Annual Tournament of Champions in Knoxville, Iowa joined by a race date at the Hartford Michigan Speedway as part of the Knoxville weekend.

URC defending champion Dave Ely made an appearance at the EMPA Convention on January 24 and confirmed his plans to chase a second consecutive URC Title. Ely will pilot the JMO Motorsports sprint car to chase that repeat title. "Winning a second title will not be easy as the competition within URC is tough", commented Ely. "URC is not your typical follow the leader sprint car racing . . . . I'm in traffic on the way to the track, the entire night at the track and then again on the way home".

Ely will have his hands full if he wants to remain in the championship seat. The Micahel Brothers will be among his strongest challengers in the coming season. Sean Michael will be returning to URC driving the Cathy and Pat Palladino sprint car as brother Curt Michael will steer the Frank Davis owned sprinter. Sean Michael owns twenty-two career wins with URC and was the 1997 and 1999 Champion. Curt Michael owns nineteen URC victories as was the 1998 club champion.

Still another top gun looking for the championship laurels is Kevin Welsh of Far Hills, NJ. Welsh enjoyed a strong start in the 2003 season only to lady luck turn her back at the mid-point of the season. Welsh had one feature win last season and finished seventh in the final point standings.
