SPEEDROME "OPEN WHEEL WEDNESDAYS" DEBUT

The Blossom Chevrolet Indianapolis Speedrome opens its 2004 USAC "Open Wheel Wednesday" slate this week, kicking off the season with events offering points toward four different series championships.

After a four-year hiatus, USAC returns to the 1/5-mile paved oval for three 50-lappers involving the Speedrome Regional Midgets, Kenyon Midgets and the Midwest and Speedrome Ford Focus Midgets. Practice starts at 5 pm and racing is scheduled to begin at 7.

Offering 250 laps of racing every Wednesday night, the Speedrome gives entry-level racers a great venue to hone their skills, while giving race fans an economical night of family fun. A total of 16 "tripleheaders" are on tap, all on Wednesdays, except for the May 27 "Rich Vogler Night" program, which is Carburetion Night, the Thursday prior to the Indianapolis 500.

Defending "open-wheel" champions at the Speedrome are Sondi Eden (Midgets) and Brian Clawson (Kenyon Midgets), while Robbie Ray won last year's Indiana Ford Focus Midget title.

Trenton Darland, son of USAC Triple Crown Champion Dave Darland, currently leads the USAC Midwest Ford Focus standings going into the Speedrome opener.

Coupled with the "Big M Motorfest" USAC races in Memphis, Tenn. Friday and Saturday, the Speedrome "tripleheader" kicks off a week where race fans have an opportunity to see participants compete for six different USAC championships on three completely different types of tracks and surfaces. The Weld Racing Silver Crown Cars are at the 3/4-mile Memphis Motorsports Park pavement on Saturday afternoon, following Friday night's Valvoline National Sprint Car and Midwest Ford Focus Midget racing on the complex's 1/4-mile dirt track.

Among returning champions at the Speedrome this Wednesday are USAC's last Regional Midget king, Daryl Campbell, who won the 2000 crown, and 1999 champ John Sluss, who halted Michael Lang's domination with a sensational charge to the title in the final race.

Lang is the all-time leader in terms of Speedrome USAC Midget wins, with 54. He won five Speedrome titles, including four in a row from 1994-1997. In 1996 Lang established the consistency mark at the Speedrome, winning six consecutive feature events!

DRAKE 1st AT BEAVER DAM
GOES FOR #3 & #4 IN "BORDER WARS X" AT GAS CITY, ELDORA

Jay Drake of Val Verde, Calif. accomplished something Saturday
achieved only once before in USAC National Sprint Car history! He's opened
the 2004 USAC Valvoline National Sprint Car series with back-to-back
victories on pavement and dirt tracks!

Drake passed Levi Jones on lap two and led the rest of the way
in his Tony Stewart Racing Eagle/Mopar to win the 30-lap feature at the
1/3-mile dirt Raceway @ Powercom Park in Beaver Dam, Wisc. He also won the
April 18 30-lapper at the 1/4-mile paved Anderson (Ind.) Speedway and
assumes the favorite's role for this weekend's "Border Wars X" events at
Gas City, Ind. and Rossburg, Ohio.

Friday night's racing program at Gas City I-69 Speedway gets
under way with practice at 6 pm. Qualifying starts at 6:30 and racing
begins at 7:30. Saturday night's events at the Eldora Speedway start with
practice at 6:30 and qualifying at 7. Racing gets under way at 8. A 30-lap
feature is on tap at both tracks.

Tracy Hines added the 2002 and 2003 titles to his 1999 "Border
Wars" championship and is one of four previous "Border Wars" champs. Brian
Tyler won the title in 1996, 1997, 1998 and 2000, while Tony Stewart was
the 1995 champ and J.J. Yeley won it in 2001.

Drake's back-to-back pavement and dirt wins mirror Robbie
Stanley's 1993 feat at Eldora and Winchester (Ind.) Speedway, while Don
Branson won back-to-back at Houston's paved Meyer Speedway and Terre
Haute's dirt oval in the 1960 Midwest sprint series before the National
series debuted in 1961.

Drake and Levi Jones were trailed at Beaver Dam by Tony
Elliott, Cory Kruseman and Brian Tyler. Defending series champion J.J.
Yeley escaped injury in a double-flip with Tom Hessert on lap six of the
feature. Hessert, whose car cleared the concrete wall in turn three, also
escaped serious injury, as did Dickie Gaines and Daron Clayton, who
executed a double-flip during a heat race. Drake was also the fastest
Beaver Dam qualifier and semi winner.

DRAKE WINS "GLEN NIEBEL CLASSIC"
SPRINTS AT BEAVER DAM'S POWERCOM PARK SATURDAY

Jay Drake of Val Verde, Calif. withstood determined challenges
from several drivers in Sunday's extremely competitive "Glen Niebel

in the 2004 Valvoline USAC National Sprint Car Series. The victory came in
his first appearance in the Tony Stewart Racing Mopar/Vital Express

Drake trails Jason McCord by a single point going into this

Trailing Drake to the checkered flag were Eric Gordon, McCord,
Levi Jones and Tracy Hines, although Dave Steele produced most of Drake
competition for the majority of the race. Steele retired in the closing
laps while running second after encountering engine woes. Jones led the

DARLAND JOINS DRIVERS DOING "DOUBLE DUTY" AT BEAVER DAM
YELEY'S MIGHT BE NEXT HAT IN THE RING!

Dave Darland of Lincoln, Ind. is the latest driver to be
entered for both ends of this Saturday's USAC "doubleheader" at the Raceway
@ Powercom Park in Beaver Dam, Wisc.

It's been six years since USAC raced at the track and this
will be only the third USAC Sprint/Midget "doubleheader" ever in the Badger
State! In 1982 Ken Schrader swept both ends of a Sprint/Midget program at
Beaver Dam and in 1997 Jimmy McCune (Midgets) and Dave Steele (Sprints)
were the winners at Madison International Raceway in Oregon, Wisc.

Darland joins Josh Wise, Tony Elliott and Tom Hessert as
"double duty' drivers for this weekend's Beaver Dam program, while
defending USAC Triple Crown Champion J.J. Yeley has secured a Sprint car
ride and is hoping to compete in both ends too.

Saturday's program is USAC's 150th Sprint/Midget
"doubleheader" since it began in 1956. Drivers have been able to score
"sweeps" on only 18 occasions and Darland and Yeley are among the 13
drivers who have accomplished the feat. The last to do it was Dave Steele
at Nazareth, Pa. last year. The last to do it on dirt (it's happened 10
times) was Yeley at Fremont, Ohio in 2002.

A pair of 30-lap feature events are on tap at the 1/3-mile
dirt oval, with practice at 1:30 pm, qualifying at 3 and racing at 4.

Drake, Wise and Elliott are all coming off impressive
victories within the past year. Wise won last year's "Belleville Midget
Nationals" at Belleville, Kansas, while Elliott won last October's "Western
World Open" Sprint race in Arizona. Drake won Sunday's USAC Valvoline
National Sprint Car opener at Anderson, Ind., beating five-time "Little
500" champion Eric Gordon to the flag.

CHRIS MORGAN USAC'S SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA COORDINATOR

April 15, 2004

Dick Jordan

Chris Morgan of Ventura, Calif. has brought his vast knowledge and love of our sport to his new position as USAC's Southern California Coordinator.

Morgan is a 31-year-old graduate of the University of California Santa Barbara whose family has been involved in motorsports for years. His father, Cliff, has been race organizer Jim Naylor's right-hand man at Ventura Raceway for nearly 20 years. After his motorsports debut at Ventura at age 14, Chris became a track starter in 1988 and served in a similar capacity through 1992 at Ventura, Saugus Speedway and the now-defunct Ascot Park in Gardena, Calif.

Chris flagged the USAC TQ Midgets in the early-1990s while assisting chief starter Bryan Howard in the USAC Western Midget Series. He then became the chief starter at Mesa Marin Raceway in Bakersfield in 1994 and at Saugus Speedway in 1995.

From 1995-1998 Chris was affiliated with the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series as a chief starter and technical inspector and was involved in technical inspection for various NASCAR events at western facilities.

In 1998 Chris became a consultant on program development and operations at the brand-new Irwindale Speedway, then was elevated to race director in 1999. In 2000 he was named the track's Director of Operations and oversaw all racing and facility operations at the motorsports complex through 2003.

In August of 2003 Chris developed "Motorsport Ventures," a consulting and corporate events business serving the southwestern United States and the Jim Russell Racing Drivers School. He was named to his new USAC post in February.

"I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to be involved in such an exiting new venture," he says. "The history of CRA Sprint Car racing in Southern California is legendary and with this new partnership between CRA and USAC we look forward to reviving the glory days of sprint car and open wheel racing for which this region is reknowned.'

NASHVILLE 77-LAPPERS RESET FOR SEPTEMBER 12

April 12, 2004

Dick Jordan

Aaron Pierce, Tracy Hines and Eric Gordon will try to become the first two-time winner of the "Glen Niebel Classic" Sunday as the 2004 USAC Valvoline National Sprint Car Series debuts with a 50-lap race at the Anderson (Ind.) Speedway.

Bad weather forced postponement of the "Music City 150" Sunday at the Music City Motorplex in Nashville, Tenn. Featuring a pair of 77-lap feature events on the 5/8-mile paved oval, the event has been rescheduled for September 12 as part of the Tennessee State Fair activities.

Pierce, of Muncie, Ind., Hines of New Castle, Ind. and Gordon, of Indianapolis, are all entered for Sunday's race at the 1/4-mile paved Anderson oval. Derek Davidson won the 2001 "Glen Niebel Classic" but is not among this year's pre-entrants.

Honoring one of USAC's most talented car owners and mechanics, Sunday's racing program also features the opening race in the 2004 USAC Midwest Ford Focus Midget Car Series, with a 50-lapper on tap. Practice starts at 10:30 am, with qualifying slated at 1:15 pm and racing at 2.

Pierce won last year's "Classic," his initial USAC triumph, but returns this year in his father's Beast/Chevy. Hines, the 2002 winner, will pilot the Dynamics, Inc. Beast/Gaerte for the winningest team in USAC Sprint Car history, while Gordon, who drives the Dynamics pavement Silver Crown car, will compete Sunday in a Beast/Gaerte for Davis-Bowman Racing.

Track record holder Dave Darland is among top challengers hoping for their initial "Niebel Classic" victory Sunday. Others include Boston Reid, Jason McCord, Bobby East, Brian Tyler, Dave Steele, Jay Drake, Cory Kruseman, Bud Kaeding, Marc Jessup and Mat Neely.

SPRINTS RETURN TO NASHVILLE FOR "MUSIC CITY 150"
$25,000 BONUS FOR ANY DRIVER WHO CAN WIN BOTH 77-LAPPERS!

April 5, 2004

Dick Jordan

The USAC Valvoline National Sprint Car Series returns to Nashville, Tenn. this Saturday after a 45-year hiatus to compete in the "Music City 150" at the Music City Motorplex.

Don Branson won the only USAC Sprint race ever held in the Volunteer State, on July 12, 1959, a 30-lapper at what was then the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. The return occurs on the same site and features a pair of 77-lap races on the 5/8-mile paved oval located at the Nashville Fairgrounds.

Drivers will be aiming at a $25,000 cash bonus for any driver who can win both 77-lap feature events. Practice gets under way at 5 pm and qualifying starts at 6. The first race, a 10-lap "qualifying race," starts at 8. In addition to the $4,000 first-place prize in each feature, a driver could rake in total prizes in excess of $33,000 for a clean sweep!

Saturday's program marks the 29th and 30th USAC races held in Tennessee, the ninth and 10th in Nashville. Darrell Waltrip won USAC's last race at Fairgrounds Speedway, a 200-lap Stock race race in 1972. Ken Schrader won the last USAC race in Nashville, a Midget race held in the Municipal Auditorium downtown.

Other USAC races in Nashville were won by Nelson Stacy (Stock cars-1959), Don White (Stock cars-1960), Jimmy Davies (Midgets-1960), Dale Swaim (Midgets-1961) and Tommy Copp (Midgets-1963).

Already entered for the Nashville event are former USAC Sprint Car Champions Tracy Hines, Dave Darland and Brian Tyler, plus 2003 "rookie of the year" Mat Neely and Most Improved Driver Marc Jessup.

Hines holds the record for the fastest USAC Sprint car race ever held, averaging 138.306 mph at Nazareth, Pa. in 2002. Jay Drake, also entered in one of three Tony Stewart Racing entries, set the all-time World speed record for Sprint Cars during qualifying last year at Fountain, Colo. at 144.950 mph. Joining Drake in Stewart entries at Nazareth will be Dave Steele, winner of the "Copper World Classic" USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown opener at Phoenix, Ariz. last month, and Cory Kruseman, winner of a USAC/CRA Sprint car feature at Phoenix in March.

Boston Reid, Jason McCord, Bobby East, Troy Cline, Aaron Pierce, Bud Kaeding and five-time "Little 500" winner Eric Gordon are other entered drivers who have all found victory lane during their USAC Sprint car careers.

A.J. DAVIS WINS TRI-COUNTY 25-LAPPER
RAIN FORCES ANDERSON, LAS VEGAS POSTPONEMENTS
FOCUSES AT MADERA & SOUTH BOSTON SATURDAY

April 5, 2004

Dick Jordan

A.J. Davis of Spartanburg, S.C. scored his initial USAC
feature victory in Friday night's 25-lap USAC Carolina/Virginia Ford Focus
Midget Car race at Tri-County Motor Speedway in Hudson, N.C.

Davis wheeled a Seymour Enterprises Hawk to the victory on the
4/10-mile semi-banked pavement, beating fast qualifier and series point
leader Chase Scott, Kevin Conway, Mike Ward and Michael Sboro to the
checkered flag.

Scott emerged from the race with an 11-point lead over Sboro
in the standings going into this Saturday night's racing program at Big
Daddy's South Boston (Va.) Speedway. A 25-lap feature is on tap at the
4/10-mile paved oval.

Davis is expected to be among favorites for victory when the
USAC Midwest Ford Focus Midget Car Series debuts at the Anderson (Ind.)
Speedway April 18. Sunday's originally-scheduled Midwest opener at Anderson
was postponed by bad weather.

The USAC California Ford Focuses will resume their 2004
campaign this Saturday night at the Madera (Calif.) Speedway as part of the
"Fred Gerhardt Open Wheel Classic." The Western Midgets compete in a
100-lapper at Madera, while the Focuses compete in a 25-lapper on the
1/3-mile pavement. Sunday's California Ford Focus Midget Car race at the
Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, part of the track's Orleans USAC
Sprint and Midget Nationals tripleheader, was postponed by rain and will
possibly be rescheduled for a date later in 2004.

FRED GERHARDT "OPEN WHEEL CLASSIC" AT MADERA
RAIN FORCES LAS VEGAS POSTPONEMENT

April 5, 2004

Dick Jordan

The USAC Western Midget Car Series is preparing for this
Saturday night's "Fred Gerhardt Open Wheel Classic" at the Madera (Calif.)
Speedway after rain forced a postponement of last Saturday night's USAC
"tripleheader" racing program at the Bullring at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor
Speedway. Track and USAC officials are hopeful of rescheduling the Las
Vegas races later in the 2004 racing season.

The Madera program features a 33-car starting field, starting
three-abreast in a 100-lap feature on the 1/3-mile paved oval! J.J. Yeley
won last year's Madera 100-lapper.

Steve Paden, currently ninth in the USAC Western Midget Car
standings, is the defending series titlist and hopes to im;prove on his
ninth-place finish in last year's Madera feature. In two Madera starts last
year he finished ninth and eighth.

Another driver to keep an eye on at Madera will be Thomas
Meseraull of San Jose, Calif. Meseraull surprised many with his spirited
victory in the second "Mopar Twin 25" at Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway March 27.

Saturday night's Madera program also includes the California
Ford Focus Midget Cars, which will compete in a 25-lap main event.

USAC SERIES AT THE BLOSSOM CHEVROLET INDIANAPOLIS SPEEDROME

April 2, 2004

Dick Jordan

Tradindiana.com, a subsidiary of Wheels & Deals and the Trader Paper, has been named the primary sponsor for this year's USAC "Open Wheel Wednesday" racing series events at the Blossom Chevrolet Indianapolis Speedrome. The series debuts on May 5, featuring the USAC Midgets, Kenyon Midgets and Ford Focus Midgets.

"We are very proud and excited about our new association with the Speedrome and USAC for the Open Wheel Wednesday events," said O'Rob Childs, Product Marketing Manager for Traderindiana.com. "The Speedrome provides a great facility for families to come out and enjoy themselves, while USAC puts on a great racing program with three different divisions of midgets." The Traderindiana.com Open Wheel Wednesday series runs from May 5th through the finale on August 18th.

WEATHER FORCES CANCELATION OF ELDORA & ANDERSON

April 2, 2004

Dick Jordan

Weather conditions have forced cancellation of this weekend's scheduled opening events for the USAC Valvoline National Sprint Car Series in Rossburg, Ohio and Anderson, Ind.

Saturday night's scheduled "Don Branson/Jud Larson Classic" USAC National Sprint Car Series opener at the Eldora Speedway has been reassigned to May 30, while Sunday afternoon's "Glen Niebel Classic," which also included the opening race of the 2004 USAC Midwest Ford Focus Midget Car Series at the Anderson Speedway, will now be held April 18. The timetable for the Anderson "doubleheader" remains the same on April 18.

Bad weather during the week and an unfavorable weather forecast for this weekend has resulted in conditions not conducive to favorable racing conditions for fans or participants at either facility.

The 2004 USAC Valvoline National Sprint Car Series is now scheduled to open April 10 with the "Music City 150" twin-77-lap feature events at the Music City Motorplex, located at the Fairgrounds in Nashville, Tenn.
