Lonnie Wheatley, MEMPHIS, Tenn. (May 7, 2004) - California's Josh Wise kicked off the "Big M Motorfest" presented by Brim's Snack Foods at Memphis Motorsports Park by turning in a stellar performance to win Friday night's 30-lap O'Reilly Sprint Bandits versus USAC Valvoline National Sprint Car Series feature atop MMP's quarter-mile gumbo oval.

Wise raced to the checkered flag in wire-to-wire fashion, slicing through heavy lapped traffic masterfully to post his first career USAC National Sprint Car Series feature victory aboard the Keith Kunz-owned No. 67 Snyder Enterprise-powered machine.

With the top six from qualifying inverted for the feature, Wise led the field to the green flag with Sprint Bandits shoe Shane Stewart alongside. After a pair of false starts, Wise jumped into the lead, only to have the action interrupted after one round for a turn three tangle in which Gary Wright got upside down.

Shouse Strikes Blow for ASCS in Wichita Challenge vs. NCRA

Photo: Coming at ya! It's a pack of sprint cars in Sunday night's American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region vs. O'Reilly NCRA 360 sprint car event at Wichita's 81 Speedway.

WICHITA, Kan. (May 9, 2004) - Oklahoma City's Andy Shouse struck a blow for the American Sprint Car Series while at the same time solidly entrenching himself as a leading contender for the 2004 American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region championship by topping Sunday night's 25-lap ASCS Sooner Region vs. O'Reilly NCRA 360 Sprint Car series feature at 81 Speedway.

Shouse inherited the lead on the 19th round when race-long leader Garry Lee Maier tagged an infield tire exiting turn two and spun to a stop along the backstretch with race-ending front-end damage. Ironically, Maier had picked up his first victory of the year just 24 hours earlier under similar circumstances at Enid Motor Speedway.

Shouse then held off the fast-closing duo of Derek Drown and Kevin Ramey over the final rounds to post the landmark victory aboard the Allen Competition Engines No. 27 Smiley's Race Products/Eskridge Auto Group Maxim.

ENID, Okla. (May 8, 2004) - Sometimes simply being in the right place at the right time can mean everything. Such was the case in Saturday night's 25-lap American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region feature when Garry Lee Maier took advantage of race-long leader Danny Wood's late miscue to snare victory honors at Enid Motor Speedway.

Starting the main event from the front row outside, Wood outdueled polesitter Maier on the opening round and paced the opening 22 circuits of the non-stop affair with Maier and current series point leader Jason Martin in tow.

As the leaders worked through lapped traffic in the closing laps, Wood clipped an infield tire exiting turn two and nearly lost control. Wood was able to gather the Harvill Industries No. 44 back in, but not before Maier and Martin charged by.

WoO LMS Public Relations

Chattsworth, GA (May 1, 2004) After racing in Maryville, Tennessee on Friday, the World of Outlaws Late Model Series made the trip to Chattsworth, Georgia to race at North Georgia Speedway. Shane Clanton of Locust Grove, Georgia proved he had the car to beat as he was leading the race by almost 1/2 lap at the end of the 60-lap feature. Clanton, in the #25 SAE Parts car took home his share of the $42,000 purse, a check for $10,000 for winning the main event.

Steve Francis, in the #15 Valvoline Mopar Dodge Intrepid with Rick Eckert in the #24 Raye Vest Excavating Ford Taurus on his outside brought the field of 26 late models around the track to take the green flag. Eckert took the lead over Francis coming off of turn two followed by Randle Chupp #114 Biscotti's Restaurant Grand Prix, Shane Clanton, Shannon Babb #18 J&J Steel Monte Carlo, and Dan Schlieper #9 Miller Brothers Monte Carlo.

Just as the race got underway, the red flag was brought out on lap three to let the ambulance out of the Infield so that it could assist a spectator experiencing medical problems. Upon the restart all of the top drivers maintained their positions.
